  • VA Work Study Social Media Specialist

    Work Study Social Media Coordinator

    A VA work-study Social Media Specialist position is responsible for:

    • Interacting with fellow military-connected students who contact or visit the Veterans Center
    • VA work-study students are also integral in reviewing student schedules to process VA benefits
    • Create content for online and other media including canvas announcements, publications, events, social media posts (Instagram and Facebook), and other communications as assigned
    • Collaborate with both professional and student staff to raise awareness of campus events and programs, departments, and organizations
    • Attend team meetings and training
    • Completing other tasks or projects as assigned
    • This position will work out of the Veterans Center on the Ellensburg campus, with a maximum of 25 hours per week

    Qualifications

    Applicants must be eligible for and utilizing a VA education benefit at the ¾ time rate or more (typically 9 credit hours or more during the regular academic year). 

    • Possess the ability to communicate effectively with student veterans, service members, and their families
    • Ability to work well both independently and as a team member 
    • Excellent organization and time management skills

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Majoring in Journalism, English, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing and/or Event Planning
    • Experience developing social media plans and/or promoting events
    • A portfolio showcasing previous content creation or projects
    • A GPA of 2.5 or higher
    • It is strongly preferred that applicants are not in their initial quarter at CWU
  • VA Work Study Event Specialist

    A VA work-study Event Specialist position is responsible for:

    • Interacting with fellow military-connected students who contact or visit the Veterans Center
    • VA work-study students are also integral in reviewing student schedules to process VA benefits
    • Assist with event coordination for department led programs/events
    • Collaborate with Social Media Specialist to promote events 
    • Partner with both professional and student staff to coordinate logistics for campus events and programs, departments, and organizations
    • Attend team meetings and training
    • Completing other tasks or projects as assigned
    • This position will work out of the Veterans Center on the Ellensburg campus, with a maximum of 25 hours per week

    Qualifications

    Applicants must be eligible for and utilizing a VA education benefit at the 0.75 time rate or more (typically 9 credit hours or more during the regular academic year). 

    • Available to work during the break periods of each quarter
    • Possess the ability to communicate effectively with student veterans, service members, and their families
    • Ability to work well both independently and as a team member, manage relationships, and communicate with external departments
    • Excellent organization and time management skills

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Majoring in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing and/or Hospitality Tourism and Event Management
    • Experience organizing and promoting events
    • A GPA of 2.5 or higher
    • It is strongly preferred that applicants are not in their initial quarter at CWU
