Veterans Week at CWU
The Central Washington University Veterans Center is honored to continue its Veterans Week traditions. Please find our schedule of events below, for ways to get involved throughout the week to commemorate Veterans Day.
What is Veterans Week?
The Veterans Center is proud to host a week of programming the week leading up to Veterans Day. This year Veterans week is from November 4th to November 11th. We will be working with various campus partners to host and highlight events. Events taking place during Veterans Week will be listed below and adverstised through the Veterans Center Canvas and Social Media channels.

Monday Nov 4th
Veterans Week Kickoff – Flag Planting
Time: 2:00 pm
Location: Meet in front of Bouillon Hall Near Rose Garden
Description
We will kick off Veterans Week with our annual flag and sign placement along Walnut Mall. This year, we will also line the SURC and Chestnut Mall with flags. Hot Chocolate and handwarmers will be available. We will also be distributing a special Veterans Day Sticker! Open to the campus and Ellensburg community.

Tuesday Nov 5th
Veterans Center Brunch
Time: 11 am – 12pm
Location: SURC 137A
Description
*Brunch is reserved for Student Veterans or current service members*
Calling all burrito giveaway winners! Come pick up your delicious breakfast burrito, courtesy of Tacos Califas, and enjoy some time with fellow veterans and service members. It's the perfect way to kick off your day—great food, great company, and great conversations. Don't miss out!
Alicia Callahan presents: The forgotten stories of World War II veterans
Time: 12-1 pm
Location: SURC 137A
Description
Come watch and listen to the forgotten stories of World War II veterans. Alicia Callahan, a history graduate student at CWU, traveled around the country this summer to collect the oral histories of our greatest generation- a generation we are quickly losing. Hear from veterans themselves about their experiences as German POWs, storming on D-Day, and continuing to fight the war even after the shooting stopped.

Marine Corps Birthday Celebration
Time: 12 –4 pm
Location: Veterans Center Bouillon 214
Description
Join us at the Veterans Center (Bouillon 214) for a sweet celebration of the Marine Corps' 249th birthday! Swing by from 12-1 PM and hang out with Archie. Cupcakes will be available from 12- 4 pm. All students are welcome, so come celebrate, chat, and enjoy some treats with us!
Late Night Leadership with David Puente

Join us Thursday, Nov 7th from 12-1 PM for Recover! - Low Speed, Low Drag Yoga, a special Veterans Center x Rec collaboration. Whether you're new to yoga or a seasoned pro, this session is all about relaxation and rejuvenation. Don't miss out on this perfect midweek reset!
Veterans Center Pint Night at Iron Horse Brewery
Time: 5 – 8 pm
Location: Iron Horse Brewery Taproom, 1621 Vantage Hwy, Ellensburg, WA 98926
Come hang out at Iron Horse Brewery for a special Veterans Week event and help support our local veterans! For every pint sold, $1 will be donated to the CWU Veterans Foundation Fund. Plus, enjoy live vibes from 88.1 The BURG and grab a delicious bite from Swiftfired Pizza Co. The taproom is open to all ages, so bring your friends and family for a night of fun, food, and giving back!

Yakima Chief Ranches and Hops Tour

Join us for a special tour of Yakima Chief Ranches and Yakima Chief Hops facilities as part of Veterans Week! Discover the fascinating world of hop farming and learn about the process that contributes to some of the finest brews.
Lunch will be provided, giving you a chance to relax and connect with fellow attendees.
Important: Please RSVP by November 4th if you plan to ride with the Veterans Center.

CWU Football – Military Appreciation Game
Time: 6:00 PM
Location: Tomlinson Stadium
Description
The Central Washington University football team will host their annual Military Appreciation game when they take on the Lobos of Sul Ross State University! on Saturday, November 9, at 6:00 PM at Tomlinson Stadium.
In honor of those who have bravely served our country, CWU is proud to offer free admission to all veterans and active military personnel with valid ID. This is our way of showing appreciation for their sacrifices and commitment.
Join us for a memorable evening, where we will recognize and thank those who have served in the military with special in-game tributes.
Come out and support the Wildcats while celebrating local heroes! Kick-off is set for 6:00 PM at Tomlinson Stadium. We hope to see you there!

CWU Air Force ROTC POW/MIA 24 hour Vigil
The Senior Cadets of the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) will continue their tradition of a 24 hour vigil for Veterans Day starting at midnight on Nov. 11 in front of Lind Hall.
