X-Ray Vision: Fish Inside Out Opening Reception and Fly Tying Demo
Thursday, January 29, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Celebrate the MCE’s newest exhibit X-Ray Vision: Fish Inside Out! X-Ray Vision: Fish Inside Out, an exhibition from the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History, showcases 40 dramatic prints exposing the inner workings of fish. The X-rays have allowed Smithsonian and other scientists to study the skeleton of a fish without altering the specimen, making it easier for scientists to build a comprehensive picture of fish diversity.
Eric Wickwire—CWU alum, EHS teacher, and the fly fishing enthusiastic—will be demonstrating fly tying throughout the evening, with opportunities to learn how to tie your own simple fly.
Light refreshments will be served.
X-Ray Vision: Fish Inside Out is organized by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History and the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES) and Smithsonian Affiliations. It was inspired by the book Ichthyo: The Architecture of Fish (Chronicle Books in association with the Smithsonian Institution, 2008) by Stephanie Comer and Deborah Klochko.

The Museum of Culture & Environment is located in Dean Hall on the CWU Campus, 1200 Wildcat Way. Parking behind Dean Hall is free after 4:30 p.m. on weekdays and free all day Saturday.
