Guaranteed Admissions
Guaranteed Admission for First Year Applicants at Central Washington University for 2026-27
Central Washington University is committed to providing access to higher education and grants guaranteed conditional admission to high-school seniors who have or will graduate with a cumulative high school gpa of 2.75 or higher (unweighted).
College Academic Distribution Requirements (CADRs) will be checked when final high school transcripts are received. See Washington Student Achievement Council for more information on CADRs.
What is CWU's guaranteed college admission?
A guaranteed admission policy means that students graduating from high school with a cumulative unweighted gpa of 2.75 or higher can be automatically admitted to the university as long as they fulfill specific criteria. This criteria typically includes verification of high school graduation and a review of CADRs.
Why does CWU have Guaranteed Admission?
CWU is committed to access to higher education and offers guaranteed admission, so students who meet the academic criteria can feel confident and secure in their college plans.
Does admission guarantee a specific major?
Our guaranteed admission policy refers only to University admission – it does not address cost of attendance or entrance to a major. At CWU, entrance to certain majors is extremely competitive, e.g. Professional Pilot and Music.
How should Guaranteed Admission factor into college planning?
Every student should have a balanced college list that includes at least one guarantee of admission – that is, a college where admission is very likely. If your student qualifies for guaranteed admission, they can generally consider that university a good option to pursue their higher education goals (with the major-related caveats described above). If your student does not qualify for guaranteed admission at CWU, they can still enter the college’s holistic review process by applying for admission and submitting a personal statement.
Qualifications for Guaranteed Admission at CWU?
Students can meet one-on-one with a CWU Admissions Counselor who will review their academics, confirm whether they qualify, and guide them through their next steps. Counselors also offer free application workshops with personalized support to help students apply confidently and at no cost.
