Late Night Leadership
SLICE presents Late Night Leadership, a keynote series in which faculty, staff, and professionals from the CWU community have an opportunity to tell students their own leadership stories. This series is designed to bridge the connection between CWU students and inspirational figures on campus. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
Late Night Leadership w/ Dr. Gilberto Garcia

Date: Wednesday, November 5th, 2025
Time: 6 - 7PM
Location: SURC PitJoin us for LNL with Dr. Gilberto Garcia, a respected scholar and Associate Professor of Political Science at CWU, as he shares his personal leadership journey through the lens of Hispanic identity. In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Dr. Garcia will reflect on how his cultural background has shaped his approach to leadership.
BIO:(Ph.D., Political Science, University of California, Riverside, 1986) is an Associate Professor of Political Science and affiliate of the Center for Latino and Latin American Studies at Central Washington University. He is co-editor with Carlos Maldonado of The Chicano Experience in the Northwest (1995), and co-editor with Jerry Garcia of the Illusion of Borders: the National Presence of Mexicans in the US (2002), and Memory, Community, and Activism: Mexican Migration and Labor in the Pacific Northwest (2005), and co-editor of Repensar la filosofía de la praxis: Homenaje a Adolfo Sánchez Vázquez (2017 with Ambrosio Velasco and Victor Manuel Hernandez Marquez. Other publications cover topics on immigration, the new borderlands, and popular culture, Latinos in Baseball and is currently completing a book on Chicana/o Studies Scholarship and the Pacific Northwest Experience.

LEAD
LEAD is an event that allows students to dive into leadership while experiencing a fun outdoor/indoor activity. Students will develop their leadership skills through an engaging workshop and then go on an adventure with one of SLICE's campus partners and the leadership programming staff.

Power of You Conference

SLICE is excited to host Power of You, a free leadership day conference focused on personal growth, skill-building, and connection. The event will include keynote speakers, interactive workshops, breakout sessions, light refreshments, and opportunities to network with peers and professionals.
This accessible, no-cost experience is designed to support your leadership journey at CWU and beyond.

Wildcat Leadership Community

Wildcat Leadership Community (WLC) is a cohort designed to help students take the next step into becoming authentic leaders on campus and in their communities. WLC is a 7-week program where participants will learn how to develop their own leadership profile, find like-minded peers, and help the community through service.
After completion of the program, students will receive a leadership certificate, letter of recommendation, graduation cord, and the opportunity to attend a trip at the end of the cohort.
How to join? You must attend a WLC orientation at the beginning of Fall, Winter, or Spring quarter in order to register. Orientation dates will be posted here on the web and on instagram @cwuslice.

WLC's Mission:
The Wildcat Leadership Community seeks to guide students to become future leaders who value collaboration, ethical practices, application, and selfless service with a focus on themselves and how they can impact others.
WLC Requirements:
- Attend WLC orientation.
- Attend 6/7 weekly cohort meetings.
- Attend 1 campus event.
- Attend 1 SLICE Leadership event.
- Complete 6 service hours through SLICE.
