Turn what you already know into college credit

If you already have knowledge in a subject, you may be able to earn college credit by passing an approved exam without taking the course.

How Credit by Exam Works

Credit by exam allows you to demonstrate your knowledge through a standardized or institution-approved test.

If you pass, you may earn credit for the equivalent course and move forward in your degree.

Common Exam Options

  • CLEP (College-Level Examination Program)
  • Advanced Placement (AP)
  • International Baccalaureate (IB)
  • Challenge exams (offered by the university)

  • Want a faster way to earn credit in a specific area

Things to Keep in Mind

  • Exams have required passing scores to earn credit
  • Not all exams apply to all programs
  • Some limits may apply to how much credit you can earn this way
  • Exam and processing fees may apply
